Just a little side-note building off my previous post.
I really appreciate how they didn’t have Calhoun ultimately shrink down to a super-deformed Nice Lander-esque sprite Felix’s size. Nor did they have Felix buff up into a Hero’s Duty style beefcake just to be on Calhoun’s level. While seeing such things happen would have been very funny, to be sure, it would have really undermined both their arcs and what made their relationship so interesting. I was honestly expecting one of the aforementioned two scenarios to play out before the credits rolled… but to my delight, such things never occurred!
At the end of the film, the pair stand at the alter with Felix barely coming up to Calhoun’s waistline; but neither of them mind whatsoever. They wed and are happy together, while still being able to retain their jobs, physical forms, and abilities even though they are very different sorts of people. While throughout the story they certainly grew as people, neither of them needed to change physically to make the relationship work or for the sake of appearances.
